We had our first virtual Zoom Guild Meeting on Monday evening. It was very easy, and we really enjoyed seeing each other. There were only about 12 of us, but we chatted and caught up, we laughed, and we even had two fur babies join in; little Jake and little Stephanie. Stephanie, with all her cuteness, didn't seem impressed with our accomplishment, but Jake, who is also a cutie, was curious as to where all the voices were coming from...lol. Thank you to Jan Pilnacek and Lynn Bauer for sharing your babies with us!
We didn't have a full meeting, but we did wish our May babies a Happy Birthday. Those with birthdays this month are: Rosanne Bennett - May 2; Hetty Mapp - May 7; Donna Gill - May 8; Kris Townsend Davis - May 10; Janice Reichelderfer - May 23; Susan Anglin - May 24; Julia Smith - May 25; and Sigrid Bush - May 26. Happy Birthday to you!!!
Though we don't know what it will look like, we are still planning on events throughout the year, and adjusting as needed. We are looking at our Birthday meeting in August, and we are currently talking of safety precautions that may need to be considered. Also, if you were thinking of entering a quilt in the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair in September, you have plenty of time to finish it up. Please do continue working on your items for the Christmas Fair in November.
We have stayed busier than ever with our Compassion work. To date, in conjunction with Sharpsburg Piecemakers, we have donated 2,012 masks. Wow! Our next collection date for masks is June 5th. 22 quilts are completed and ready to be delivered to Ft. Mac, and there are another 20 in need of quilting. We also have 3 baby quilts that are complete. Whew! Despite our current circumstances, you all are amazing!!!
I hope you all are staying well. I miss seeing you all and getting to talk. Should it be necessary to hold our next Guild Meeting virtually, I really do hope you will consider joining in. It really is very easy, and I will be happy to help in any way I can so that you won't be left out.
Until next time
Thanks for renewing your membership with us - we look forward to another terrific year! Attached is the Welcome Packet for
2019-2020. There are a few changes and I wanted to make sure you all had a copy without having to print off hundreds of pages!

Sewing for Compassion Quilts
Come join us as we sew our compassion quilts
Our guild continues to reach out to our community with compassion sewing and quilts. We are working on quilts for the Vets at Fort MacPherson and the Pregnancy Center as well as burp cloths. We are also in the process of making weighted quilts for children and youth. Compassion Sewing happens every 2nd Thursday of the month and twice a year at our Saturday Sewcials. It is our hope that we see each member on one of these special days. You can bring your sewing machine if you would like but we always need people to iron and cut. We also welcome guests. Hope to see you on one of these days!
