Let’s hop into Spring!
Hello everyone! Spring is making its appearance known. Bulbs are popping up, trees are budding out, warmer weather is teasing us, pollen is in the air, and it is the time for fresh, new things. What is your favorite thing to work on this time of year? Have you tried something new? I do not know how to crochet, or how to knit. Was never good at it when I tried. However, I’ve given Tunisian Crochet a try. It is a combination of crocheting and knitting. I know, right. I’m slow, but it is a learning experience. Now my 8-year old grandson wants me to make him a scarf …what have I started!?
See what is coming soon!
March 25 – Our own Cindy Ford and Jane Coleman will bring us a trunk show.
April 22 – We will be playing Quilto. Like Bingo, but with fabric.
May 20 – Jan Cunningham will bring us a trunk show.
June 22 - Lisa Storm – Collage Applique
Thursday Sewcials – Come and join us. Fun is had by all. We meet every Thursday, from 10 – 2, at Mills Chapel Baptist Church in Newnan. Bring a lunch and join us. You can work on whatever you like – sewing, hand stitching, cross stitching, crocheting, etc., or try your hand at something new! On the second Thursday of every month we work on Compassion for our homeless veterans or for the Newnan Pregnancy Center.
We meet at the church from 10:00 – 2:00. Bring your lunch and any supplies you may need.
April 13 - Compassion
May 11 – Kay Harris will be instructing on machine quilting.
June – There is no Saturday Sewcial in June.
Christmas Fair Market
You may begin bringing your items for the Christmas Market to the guild meetings to be collected. Thank you Linda Burns for managing this task.
Last but not least, I would like to remind everyone of the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair held in the month of September. I would love to see your quilts entered. Quilts have to have been started after last year’s fair, which was at the end of September. Quilts are handled with respect. You all do such beautiful work. Let’s show it off!

Sewing for Compassion Quilts
Come join us as we sew our compassion quilts
Our guild continues to reach out to our community with compassion sewing and quilts. We are working on quilts for the Vets at Fort MacPherson and the Pregnancy Center as well as burp cloths. We are also in the process of making weighted quilts for children and youth. Compassion Sewing happens every 2nd Thursday of the month and twice a year at our Saturday Sewcials. It is our hope that we see each member on one of these special days. You can bring your sewing machine if you would like but we always need people to iron and cut. We also welcome guests. Hope to see you on one of these days!
