DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
I always assumed that this expression came from the fact that the weather isn’t even fit for a dog! But it’s really the ancient Romans who associated the hottest days of summer with the star Sirius. That star was known as the “dog star” because it was the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major. But no matter where it came from, I hope you are staying cool inside with the only heat coming from your sewing machine!
Come join in the fun:
September 25 - Molly Elkind, Fiber Artist
Since so many people are off on trips and holidays, we do not have any Saturday Sewcials in July and August. But plan on our next one in September! Watch for the details about a special workshop with Lain Stowe from Sew Much Fun!
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Do you have all your blocks finished? Maybe 6 of them? How about one??? We’ll be having the “reveal” at our August meeting.
You are all so terrific! What great projects you have been turning in each month! I’m sure our booth at the Newnan-Coweta Art Association’s Christmas Fair will be the busiest and most profitable one there! Please keep turning in your items.
THE NOVEMBER AUCTION
Yes, we’ll still be having the auction in November after the fair. So start cleaning out your closets and shelves now to donate to this fundraiser. We’re looking for fabric, patterns, yarn, tools, etc. Pack them up in bags and boxes and bring them to the October guild meeting!
Ribbons, Ribbons, how do you get one? What do they represent?

Earn Buttons for Show & Tell with Punch Cards
August is the month when we are beginning the use of punch cards, if you choose to participate. Ribbons for show and tell will still be available and not phased out. The reward for a full card is a quilting button. There will be new buttons each month to pick from. We will punch your card for show and tell and a punch for all things extra you do for the guild like a participating in a charity sewing day, sitting with the opportunity quilt, giving a workshop etc. The first buttons will be given when you join 2015-16 and if you submitted a block for the newest patriotic opportunity quilt, and every time your punch card is full. The buttons will be near the sign in sheet each month for those who want to collect them.
